The search for that perfect white shirt.

I am constantly in the search for that perfect white shirt. The perfect shoulder fit, crisp, pristine cotton, fit that skims your body, perfect collar length; finding that shirt is pure ecstasy. I found my most recent soul-shirt at Cottonworld in Calcutta. It's perfect, we're very happy together.

Trawling Net-a-porter.com like I usually do while absconding from exam prep, I happened to stumble onto many, many fantastic tops. So I decided  that doing a post might be a good way to end my bloggers block.

This DAY BERGER ET MIKKELSEN number incorporates heavy lace and sheer cotton. Recipe for awesomesauce, I say.

Try this contrast piping DKNY blouse with a tiny silk tulip skirt to look like the perfect Stepford wife gone rogue.

This Donna Karan tunic would be perfect against a sparkling Maldivian horizon.

Oh Alber! You're such a tease. Lanvin keeps it whimsical with a bow-embellished silk tee.

Wear this draped white Michael Kors top for a night on the town. White is one of those few exceptional light colours that I feel look as good at night as do they in the day.

Miu Miu is one my newer favourite labels and ever since I saw this sequined-collar top on a mannequin, I can't stop thinking about it.

Miu Miu smashes it with another great white top - loving the tiers!

Another Black/White beauty, this time from Sandro. I can just imagine it being worn with a bright pair of tailored shorts.

Temperley London makes the most whimsical, exquisite shirts and this here is no exception. The lace and pin-tuck panels make for a perfect day to night piece.

Not a fan of the Pell, but give me a peter pan collar and I'm on board. This is from The Row.

To end on a high note, here's an absolutely AMAZING Prabal Gurung embellished-tulle blouse. Could it be more perfect? I think Prabal is one of the greatest designers of his generation, his designs are effortlessly chic and oh-so pretty, without ever being boring. I have a feeling he's going to hit a Marc Jacobs level high soon enough.

Miss me, I promise (again!) to post more often.

Stuff.

So I've been in a bit of a slump lately and haven't really been in the posting mood. But here's some obligatory stuff.

Firstly, I didn't win the FFF Style Scout title. =( I know, right? Ha, no worries though. Maybe next time!
But I thought I'd show you guys my outfit and my inspiration write up, so here it is:
Yes, those are leggings under the shorts!

Inspiration:
Although I wouldn’t call my style antifashion, it’s comfortably afashion. I love pairing clothes I bought seasons ago with pieces I find in unexpected places. My personal style is eclectic and thus that translates into the outfit I crafted for today. A lot of my inspiration comes from street style and I think Italian men are the chic-est men in the world. Their sensibilities range from perfectly tailored and curiously whimsical to effortlessly complex. My favourite season is Spring, the time when there’s still a chill in the air but the sun shines bright and that is the season my outfit channels. It doesn’t want to let go of Winter’s rich, deep neutrals but embraces Spring’s flashes of colour.
This is exactly what I would wear in Milan on a sunny Spring afternoon. The nautical stripes are reminiscent of the sea and the layering creates an interesting silhouette. The bird pin, bow on the trilby and viscose shirt add the element of whimsical androgyny and the juxtaposition with the heavy canvas of the overshirt and tights generates textural depth. The Italian love for ‘luxe’ obligates the inclusion of the woven leather belt and the deep, rich tan compliments the colours perfectly.
In essence, this outfit embodies my aesthetic sense. It is simple yet complex and it retains a subtlety which whispers,” style” instead of screaming “trendy.” It is carelessly cool. It is me.

And secondly, this is just something I did when I was bored the other day. Everything is from Net-a Porter. I'll put in the product deets another time.

"Effortless cool is a detailed process" -Ben Sherman (Part Dos)

As promised, the outfit post!
I liked SO many things at the store that it was impossible to try on everything. So I rationed and picked out a few favourites. These are clothes which I think are uber versatile and  can be mixed, matched and reinterpreted into many different outfits and given the steadfastly high street shopper I am, that's a brilliant thing!

Houndstooth Collar Shirt. Beige Plaid Lined Cotton Jacket.

Target Logo Tee. Black Waxed Denim Bomber Jacket.

 Olive Wool Military Peacoat.

Red and Navy Gingham Shirt. Waxed Carrot Jeans.

Chunky Knit Double Breasted Navy Cardigan.

Patterned Slim Fit Shirt.

This is what I wore.
Tee - Bangkok Street. Waistcoat - Zara Man. Shorts - Reworked Gap Linen Pants. Shoes - Pedro. Watch - My superawesome Tommy Hilfiger chrono watch.

Yes, we are self obsessed like that.
So tell me what you guys think, liking LOVING th looks?
I knew it!

"Effortless cool is a detailed process" -Ben Sherman (Part Une)

The omgsoawesome store display!

So I was picked as a prospective Style Scout for Fashion Fast Forward in Singapore and I was invited to cover the new Ben Sherman store opening at Paragonon the 9th of April! I'm sorry for the late post, I had stupid exams. =6
Fun Jam Band was performing (which I missed =\ ) and there was a bar with Steinlager beer, which by the way, is deelish!

Ben Sherman is this ohsocool Brit men's fashion brand with the most AMAZING clothes! Think skinny jeans, gingham in every size and colour and lots of outerwear! There is no better combination in my opinion, and when I entered the store I couldn't stop staring at everything. It was choc-a-bloc with preppy British insignia and given my love of the Union Jack, my heart was aflutter! I got to check out (read: try on everything and run around the store in circles with my hands in the air) their Spring Summer 2011 collection which was uber-cool and super stylish. I picked a few pieces out I just loved and tried them on . You can see the rest at their Online Store!

I took a LOT of pictures so I'm going to do two posts, one with pictures of the swanky new store and the next with pictures of me and the outfits I tried on!

Preppy is LOVE!

I loved this shelf display! I love when stores have books in them, especially books that look so good!

How cool is this chair? I sat in it and refused to get up. I had to be pried away!

This is where the Fun Jam Band was supposed to be playing but I missed their performance. If only there were no exams.

Wool peacoats are LUST-WORTHY. I wouldn't need it in Singapore, but if I did, I would SO buy this one.

How cool is the Union Jack on this polo?

Isn't the gingham lining so so chic!

More gingham! The hangers of happiness!

You know, I don't usually go for printed shirts but this one stole my heart. And chunky knit cardigans have always been a weakness!

How can any British label be complete without Houndstooth! And I love the fact that only the collar is patterned. Very, very cool.

Hello, plaid!

Ben Sherman polos make for a pretty picture!

Yummy Steinlager!

So all in all it was a delightful opening and it was so cool to see so many brilliant clothes! I HAVE to go back and pick up SO many things. I bet my Dad'll hate the place, given how huge a dent it will be creating in his wallet.

Psssst. How awesome is my Spongebob keyring? I bought it on vacation and I can't but smile everytime I see it
Later.

I couldn't not post this.

Yes, I stole it from Imsu.

Karl, you beast.

Karl Lagerfeld designed a Spongebob meets Lagerfeld figurine/plushie for a WWF charity auction in Paris and it went for 1000 Euro. He's such a star!
Apparently, it was in 2009. Why am I hearing about this only now?

Now that is what you call BAD. ASS.

Here's sending Japan love, light and prayer.
It's inspiring to see a country that's as honourable as them.

Which to get, that is the question.

Given I already have maroon, navy and deep grey (snore-worthy, I know!). Being the Zara whore I am, I want one! What's that? I live in a country that averages 30 degrees Celsius all year. Lalaalalalcan'thearyoulalalalalal.
Still gonna get one. So tell me!

Trendspotting: Neon

So I was shopping the new arrivals at Net-a-Porter and I noticed this pattern. A pattern I really really like. Neons.
Bright, luscious, POW colours for spring. Yes, very predictable, but great nonetheless! I've always been a fan of neons and these pieces from the catalogue stood out. Every single one of these pieces can cut right through a muted look for that punch spring calls for. I've always been a fan of statement pieces and these just feed the greedy little 'chic' monster inside me. It never satiates, does it?

Smythson iPad Case. Jil Sander Printed Skirt. Burberry Prorsum Belt. Bally Colour-Blocked Dress. Miu Miu Stilettos.

Style Icon of the Day: Hamish Bowles

Fuchsia tie. Purple pocket square. Aqua socks.
That is the way to roll.
I'm definitely taking a page out of his book.

Dreaming of Sapna!

Mad O Wot bandra
OMG Sapna Bhavnani is waytoocool!
This started with me going in for a haircut at Mad O Wat when I was interning in Bombay last summer and as I fell in love with the city's vibe, I also fell in love with the salon. It's the funkiest, coolest, kitsch-iest place I have been to, like ever. And it's owned and run by a stud who goes by the name Sapna Bhavnani.
I was just curious about her so I started following their Facebook page and I think they are uber cool. I mean if I was in Bombay, there is no way I wouldn't be interning/assisting/apprentice-ing with them. And the Mad O Wot website is one of my favourite websites ever. It's the perfect, most delicious blend of  Bambaiya, Kitsch & Crazy.
Then I stumbled onto Sapna Bhavnani's personal website and that is a whole other level of funky. Check out the screenshots below! So basically I can't stop waxing eloquent about Sapna or Mad O Wot. So tell you what? Check it out for yourself and decide.
